A Pennsylvania mother accused of murdering her husband and 3-year-old son at a Great Wolf Lodge allegedly faced a utility shutoff over a $30 bill and had emptied her husbands retirement savings in the weeks before the family trip.

According to The Post Millennial, 27-year-old Metallica Rose Harrison was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal homicide. Authorities allege she fatally stabbed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son, Tristain, inside their room at the family-oriented resort in Scotrun, Pennsylvania.

As reported by The Post Millennial, while the family was vacationing in the Poconos, a 72 hour shut off notice from Valley Energy was taped to the front door of their home. Dated October 5 and addressed to Harrison, the notice warned that gas service could be cut off on or after 8 am on October 8 over an unpaid balance of just $29.05.

Harrisons stepmother told the outlet that on September 21, her stepdaughter allegedly drained her husbands 401(k) account to finance the getaway. The trip, originally scheduled to end on October 5, was extended at the last minute, pushing the checkout date to October 13 and reportedly bringing the total cost to around $6,000.

Security footage allegedly shows the family entering their hotel room shortly before 7 pm on Sunday, then heading out to the resorts arcade before returning just before 11:30 pm. The next day, at around 1:30 pm, Harrison called 911 after allegedly killing her husband and son, requesting help to end her own life.

She allegedly told the dispatcher she was too weak to stab my neck, complaining that the knives she had were not working and that she needed help dying. Responding officers found that she had slashed her neck and wrists, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

During the ambulance ride, Harrison reportedly tried to portray herself as a devoted wife and mother despite the horrific allegations. She told first responders, "Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife, a statement that now stands in stark contrast to the charges she faces and the financial decisions that preceded the tragedy.
