Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski used their MSNBC Morning Joe platform to lavish praise on Texas Democrat James Talaricos performance at a CNN town hall, presenting him as an authentic, transparent politician who had supposedly confronted his past controversies head-on.
According to Gateway Pundit, the hosts insisted that Talarico was remarkably real and claimed he had responsibly addressed his earlier inflammatory remarks, particularly on faith and gender. Yet their glowing review conveniently ignored a key moment in the event, when Talarico asserted that Scripture is silent on abortion and was promptly challenged by a Catholic woman in the audience who dismantled that claim in front of a national television audience.
Scarborough, clearly enamored with the Democrat lawmaker, gushed on air, The guys so good before praising Talaricos exchange with a pro-life Christian woman, saying, He also talked about other issues, Elise, he talked about abortion and talked to a fellow Christian who is pro-life, he was pro-choice, they went through it and talked about it an I thought very well and He talked about, said he made a mistake when he talked about God, uhhh being, I dont know what his words were, fluid or many genders back in 21 and had a great, great response to that Scarborough framed this as a model of civil discourse, glossing over the substance of the pro-life critique and the theological problems with Talaricos earlier comments about God being fluid or many genders.
This is the same Joe Scarborough who, in March 2024, aggressively defended Joe Bidens mental acuity, declaring, This version of Biden intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever, not a close second, and Ive known him for years. That on-air defense aged poorly as Democrats and their media allies soon moved in lockstep to push Biden out of the 2024 presidential race amid widespread concerns he was, politically speaking, a vegetable.
For viewers on the right, Scarboroughs latest performance looks less like journalism and more like partisan spin dressed up as sober analysis. After years of cheerleading for Biden and now boosting Talarico while ignoring a devastating pro-life rebuttal, many conservatives are left asking: Who do Joe and Mika think they are fooling?
