Senator Thom Tillis is spending the waning days of his undistinguished Senate career attacking President Donald Trump and pressuring private companies over U.S. foreign policy.
According to Gateway Pundit, Tillis is currently promoting a new book that takes aim at President Trump while aligning himself with the Washington establishments endless-war posture, particularly in Ukraine. The North Carolina Republican has increasingly positioned himself against the America First base, behaving like many in the GOP who cant stand Trump or his voters and [are] doing everything he can to derail the MAGA movement. His latest target is Elon Musk, whose companies have provided critical communications technology used in the Ukraine conflict.
On Wednesday, Tillis publicly confronted Musk over reported disruptions to satellite service in the war zone, demanding answers about alleged outages. .@elonmusk please tell me these overnight disruptions to Starlink terminals in Ukraine were unintended that @SpaceX is doing everything it can to fix a temporary glitch, Tillis wrote, suggesting that any deliberate change in service could carry grave implications.
Im confident this does not reflect a change in SpaceX policy because if so, intentionally degrading Ukraines ability to defend itself might be construed as aiding and abetting a mass murderer. Can you confirm thats not SpaceXs intent? he continued, effectively accusing a U.S. entrepreneur of potentially helping Vladimir Putin. Tillis then offered a sweeping moral narrative about the conflict, insisting, Ukrainians simply want to live in peace. They did not ask Putin to bomb their homes, schools and hospitals. They do not want Putin to kidnap and brainwash their children. They are not interested in destroying energy infrastructure in Ukraine or in Russia. They only want to defend their country and live their lives.
Supporting Ukrainian sovereignty or at the very least, allowing for it should not be a gray area for the U.S. government or for American corporations. Can you clarify the SpaceX position? Tillis added, pressing for corporate alignment with U.S. interventionist policy. Yet community notes on X quickly undercut his premise, stating, This disruption was StarShield, not StarLink. That clarification, provided in the full community-notes response, raises fresh questions about why a lame-duck Republican senator is so eager to smear a major American innovator while his own voters remain far more concerned with securing the U.S. border than policing Ukraines.
