A Pennsylvania mother is accused of fatally stabbing her 3-year-old son and her husband inside a family resort suite in the Pocono Mountains, a case that has reignited concern over the quiet spread of domestic violence and mental breakdowns behind closed doors.
The suspect, 27-year-old Metallica Harrison, allegedly killed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son in a room at Great Wolf Lodge before turning the knife on herself. According to The Post Millennial, the Monroe County Coroners Office is investigating the deaths, and Harrison has been charged with two counts of homicide while she remains hospitalized under police guard.
Authorities say that after the stabbings, Harrison herself called 911, calmly informing dispatchers of the grim scene awaiting first responders in room 2030. "My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room," she reportedly told the operator, adding, "They're already gone, I'm sorry."
The family had been staying at the resort since Sept. 21, with an extension booked on Oct. 5, suggesting plans for an extended vacation rather than a brief visit. Investigators say both victims were stabbed in the chest, and multiple knives were recovered at the scene, with Great Wolf Lodge confirming the weapons did not belong to the resort.
Police also discovered containers of blood and medication in the room, details that point to a premeditated and deeply disturbed act rather than a spontaneous outburst. Harrison had allegedly slashed her own neck and wrists, echoing the self-inflicted injuries of notorious child killer Lindsay Clancy, who murdered her three children in their Duxbury, Massachusetts home in January 2024.
When officers arrived and took Harrison into custody, she refused to cooperate with questioning, offering only a chilling remark about her state of mind. She allegedly told officers she was "suicidal, not stupid," signaling an awareness of her actions even as she claimed to want to die.
During her transport by EMS to a local hospital, Harrison reportedly shifted into a tone of anguished self-justification, describing herself as a devoted wife and mother. "Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife," police officers recorded her saying, per the NY Post.
Her comments grew more despairing as she reflected on the family life she claimed to have long desired but ultimately destroyed. "It wasn't supposed to end like this," she said. "I was supposed to have my happy family. That's what I envisioned since I was a child."
Authorities say Harrison even asked first responders for advice on how best to end her own life, underscoring the depth of her apparent mental and emotional collapse. "This was a violent domestic tragedy in which two people, a boy and his father, lost their lives," said the Monroe County District Attorney, emphasizing the brutality of the crime.
Great Wolf Lodge, a popular family destination, moved quickly to distance the resort from the violence while acknowledging the gravity of what occurred on its property. "We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains," a statement from Great Wolf Lodge read.
"It was an isolated family incident and we're cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation." The resort added that "Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected," and urged that "Out of respect for those involved as well as the integrity of the investigation, we ask that any further information regarding this matter be directed to Pocono Township Police Department."
Management is allowing guests to adjust or change their reservations, a move aimed at reassuring families who expect safety and stability when they travel. As President Trumps second administration continues to emphasize law and order and the protection of children and families, cases like this highlight the urgent need for a culture that takes domestic violence, mental illness, and the sanctity of life seriouslybefore tragedies like the one in room 2030 unfold.
