Andre Rush, the muscular Army veteran and celebrity chef who served in the White House under Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump, is now facing a torrent of abuse from the left for the simple act of appearing in a cooking promotion with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The joint appearance, according to Gateway Pundit, was focused on promoting healthier eating and lifestyle habits, not on pushing any partisan agenda. Yet Rushs willingness to stand beside a member of the second Trump administration was enough to trigger a wave of ideological outrage from self-appointed enforcers of progressive orthodoxy.
Rush addressed the backlash in a video shared by Kennedy, who reminded viewers that promoting healthy families are not Democratic or Republican issues. For daring to cross the lefts political red line, Rush said, That video made me lose 20,000 followers.
And you know what? Thats perfectly fine with me, he continued, making clear he would not be intimidated into silence. I was getting called words like Uncle Tom, sellout, and disappointed.
Rush pointed out that the Uncle Tom slur came largely from other black Americans, underscoring how identity politics is weaponized to police ideological conformity. First off, I smile at that. Know what it actually means instead of going off what everybody else says, he advised, urging critics to educate themselves rather than parrot insults.
And as far as all the ones who came to me and said Im disappointed in you, I dont give a f***, Rush said bluntly. I dont even know who you are, where you are, and its the only time you show up in my DMs.
Drawing on his own history of childhood poverty, the loss of loved ones to suicide, and his personal battles with mental health, Rush dismissed the online mob as trivial compared with real suffering. I dont care if youre black, white, how much money you have even the n-word you call me Ill still save your life. Ill still pick you up. Ill still uprise you, he reacted. Its just that simple.
Rush explained that his mission is to help people cook and live more healthfully because he believes that is the purpose God has given him. Keep doing what youre doing. God bless, he concluded the video. God knows Im not the best person in the world.
