A quiet Central Florida neighborhood has been shaken by an unfathomable act of violence after authorities say a father fatally stabbed his 17-year-old twins before taking his own life.
The Orange County Sheriffs Office identified the father as 63-year-old Ivan Montiel Roa and the victims as his teenage children, Carlo Montiel Infantino and Melanie Montiel Infantino, who were found dead inside the familys Orlando-area apartment, according to Gateway Pundit. Deputies had been dispatched to the 1200 block of Courtney Chase Circle on Wednesday, September 30, for a well-being check when the grisly scene was discovered.
Upon entering the residence, deputies located Carlo and Melanie in the living room, both suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to the Sheriffs Office. Their father was also found dead inside the home, with investigators stating that he appeared to have died by suicide.
Detectives believe Ivan murdered Carlo and Melanie and then committed suicide, the Orange County Sheriffs Office said, according to FOX 35 Orlando. Authorities have not released any information suggesting a prior criminal history for the father or the children, nor have they indicated any previous calls for service at the address.
The lack of a known motive has only intensified community concern over what could drive a parent to allegedly commit such an atrocity against his own children. Investigators have not yet established the precise timeline of the killings, and the Sheriffs Office has said the investigation remains ongoing.
Carlo and Melanie were students at Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, where their deaths have left classmates and staff reeling. Orange County Public Schools confirmed the loss of the two students and announced that grief counselors would be available to support those affected, according to WESH 2.
The family had already endured significant hardship earlier this year, adding another layer of heartbreak to the case. According to Univision Orlando, the twins mother and Roas wife died in June, leaving the children and their father to navigate life without her.
Neighbors described the area as a typically peaceful community and expressed disbelief that such a crime could occur so close to home. Florida State Rep. Rita Harris, who lives nearby, called the deaths a tragedy and said the community was heartbroken, adding, Its devastating as a mom, as a human being, in comments to WESH.
Carlo and Melanie were just 17 years old, their lives cut short before adulthood in a case that underscores the fragility of family stability in times of profound loss. With no clear motive, no prior warning signs reported by law enforcement, and an active investigation still underway, residents are left searching for answers and praying such horror does not visit another home in their community.
