A Democratic staffer in California who once worked as a television news anchor has been taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Las Vegas, raising fresh questions about the Biden administrations handling of immigration enforcement and the renewed Trump-era crackdown.
According to The Post Millennial, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that Ho-Yin Mo, a former anchor for Chinese-language station KTSF and a staffer for California Assemblywoman Catherine Stefani, was arrested by ICE agents at Harry Reid International Airport. DHS told the New York Post, On January 13, 2020, Mo lawfully entered the U.S. on a temporary basis but illegally overstayed his welcome by failing to depart by May 15, 2020, adding pointedly, Work authorization or a pending application do NOT confer legal status in the United States.
Mo, originally from Hong Kong, had been serving as a field representative for Stefani, who represents Californias 19th Assembly District, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously worked at KTSF, which broadcasts in Chinese, and also joined London Breeds 2024 gubernatorial campaign, underscoring his integration into Californias Democratic political circles.
At the time of his hiring by Breed, a campaign spokesperson praised Mos media presence and outreach value, saying, When we heard that Mo was available, we jumped at the opportunity to hire him, because we know that his profile on KTSF really resonates with a lot of individuals, and his background and his experience. Mo is expected to remain in ICE custody while removal proceedings move forward, a process now operating under a markedly tougher posture.
DHS reversed the horrendous Biden-era policy that allowed aliens in our country illegally to jet around our country, the department said of the arrest, signaling a clear shift back toward enforcement. Under President Trump, DHS will no longer tolerate this. This administration is working diligently to ensure that aliens in our country illegally can no longer fly unless it is out of our country to self-deport, a stance likely to be welcomed by Americans who believe border security and the rule of law must be restored after years of lax oversight.
