The United States will once again pause to remember one of the darkest days in its history: the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York Citys World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after American heroes fought back against the hijackers.
Nearly 3,000 innocent people were murdered in a single morning, a toll that still defies comprehension. According to RedState, a quarter-century later, the nation continues to grapple not only with the enormity of the loss but also with the meaning of that day in an era when some on the Left appear determined to downplay or distort it.
Anyone who was old enough to understand events 25 years ago can recall with absolute clarity where they were and how the horror unfolded in real time. The images, the sounds, and the sheer disbelief of that morning remain etched into the American psyche more than two decades later.
For most Americans, those memories evoke grief, anger, and a renewed sense of resolve. Yet, disturbingly, many progressives have responded very differently, choosing to blame America, express sympathy for the terrorists, or complain that conservatives and the media are placing too much emphasis on the anniversary.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is determined not to let the country forget who carried out the attacks or how some on the Left have reacted to them. The committee has got the receipts, as conservatives often say, and on Thursday it released a powerful video compiling some of the most egregious left-wing statements about 9/11.

The video features leftist commentator Hasan Piker, a prominent figure who has campaigned with Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. Piker infamously declared that America deserved 9/11, a statement that reveals a worldview in which the United States is perpetually at fault, even when it is the victim of mass murder.
He is not alone in this moral inversion. Rep. Ilhan Omar dismissed the attacks with the now-notorious phrase that they were when some people did something, while Colorado congressional candidate Melat Kiros called the attacks inevitable and blamed the United States and Israel for terrorism.
The NRCC spot also highlights the radicalism of Will Lawrence, a far-left activist recently exposed for deleting social media posts to conceal his agenda. At a campaign event for Abdul El-Sayed, Lawrence gushed to Piker, Youre the man, signaling his approval of a figure who claimed the country deserved the slaughter of its own citizens.
There is more, and plenty more, where that came from. The Democratic Party and its ideological partners in the Democratic Socialists of America have produced a disturbing archive of statements that trivialize terrorism and vilify America itself.
The Democrat nominee for New Yorks State Senate District 12, Aber Kawas, offered one of the most revealing comments in June. The idea we have to apologize for a terror attack that a couple of people did and then there is no apology or reparations for genocides and for slavery ... is something I find reprehensible, she said, reducing 9/11 to a terror attack that a couple of people did.
A terror attack that a couple of people did. Those words alone are enough to make the blood boil, especially given the facts. Nineteen terrorists carried out the hijackings that day, but they were supported, financed, and inspired by a far larger network of jihadists led by al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden; it was far more than the work of a couple of people.
The reality is that 9/11 was not only a national tragedy but also a stark warning about the nature of radical Islamic terrorism and the cost of complacency. Its memory deserves to be honored, taught, and emphasized, not relegated to the status of just another historical footnote or politicized talking point.
Those who minimize the suffering of the victims, their families, and the nation reveal a profound moral and psychological disorder that voters cannot afford to ignore. Americans who still cherish their country and its security should turn out in overwhelming numbers to ensure that such voices never gain control of the levers of power.
The enemy that struck on 9/11 has not disappeared; it has adapted, and in some cases, it now speaks from within our own political institutions. The threat is still very much alive, and, as many conservatives warn, it is already within the gates.
