Ben Cline (R-VA) warned that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) grip on power atop the Democratic caucus is in trouble, even if his party were to reclaim the House in November.
Appearing on Fox Business Networks Mornings, Cline responded to a question about internal Democratic tensions, which, according to Breitbart, have been fueled by pressure from the partys progressive wing. Host Cheryl Casone noted, CNN reports that progressive House members and candidates are pushing party leaders behind the scenes to reflect on more of their liberal ideals, something House Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries seems to be hesitant to do, Congressman, your thoughts, because say that the Democrats did flip the House in November, there seems to be a lot of pressure on the leadership of Jeffries. Your thoughts, highlighting the growing divide between establishment Democrats and their socialist-aligned colleagues.
Cline argued that Jeffries position is far from secure, casting doubt on his future whether Democrats remain in the minority or seize the gavel. Oh, I think Hakeem Jeffries is in trouble. I dont think he is guaranteed to be any leader, even when they remain in the minority, he said, suggesting the left flank will not tolerate what it sees as cautious, centrist leadership.
He pointed to the rise of Democrat socialists as a destabilizing force inside the party, particularly those emerging from deep-blue districts. I think that the Democrats coming in from New York, the Democrat socialists, the Democrat socialists coming in from other Democrat seats, are going to want more radical leadership in the Democrat Party, because were going to keep control and were going to be in control of the majority, Cline continued, adding that Democrats in the minority are still going to be rudderless, leaderless, and directionless, as they have been for these past several months.
