The OKeefe Media Group has released new undercover footage raising fresh questions about Senator Lisa Murkowskis stance on election integrity and Alaskas voting laws.
According to Gateway Pundit, the latest video centers on Murkowskis opposition to the SAVE America Act, a federal proposal that would require voter identification nationwide. Senator Murkowski has argued that such a measure would disenfranchise residents of remote Alaskan communities, claiming that individuals on small islands would be unable to vote because they would be forced to travel to Anchorage to obtain an ID. Her position aligns with a familiar liberal talking point that voter ID laws are overly burdensome, despite broad public support for basic identification requirements at the ballot box.
To test Murkowskis claim, James OKeefe traveled to the island community of Unalaska and questioned local DMV staff about the process for obtaining identification. We dont have to go to Anchorage to get an ID? OKeefe asked the DMV worker. The employee responded, No, you can come here. An Unalaska resident also confirmed that voting occurs at City Hall and that residents Dont have to go to Anchorage [to register to vote or obtain ID].
This latest release follows an earlier undercover video from last Thursday, in which an Anchorage poll worker allegedly offered OKeefe a ballot in the name of Senator Murkowskis brother. On Tuesdays primary day, another Anchorage poll worker reportedly offered a ballot for Murkowskis State Director, Karina Waller, without requesting identification. I did not check in as Brian Murkowski, cast a ballot, or sign his name. We documented what happened when I gave his name, said I had no ID, and asked whether Brian could still vote, James OKeefe said. When he asked, Would it be possible to vote without it [ID]? the poll worker replied, Absolutely possible!
Faced with these revelations, Murkowski has not called for tightening Alaskas voting procedures but instead demanded legal action against the journalist exposing the vulnerabilities. Senator Murkowski has consistently supported the requirement of photo ID to vote, and earlier this month, she voted in favor of a separate measure on the Senate floor to do just that, Murkowski said, while simultaneously rejecting the SAVE America Act. She continued, However, the SAVE America Act is an overly burdensome, one-size-fits-all mandate from Washington. Doubling down, she added, In any case, voter impersonation is a crime and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, a statement widely interpreted as a call to prosecute OKeefe rather than address the systemic weaknesses his investigation exposed.
