Renowned musician Sir Rod Stewart has disclosed that his wife, Penny Lancaster, forbade him from being friends with former President Donald Trump, despite living close to him and frequently attending his events.
In an interview with Scottish Field magazine, the 78-year-old pop star revealed that his wife considers Trump a disgrace. Lancaster, a former lingerie model and special constable for the London Police, prohibited Stewart from attending Trumps Christmas party and other events due to the former Presidents derogatory comments about women.
Stewart and Trump have been friends for decades and are neighbors in an exclusive Palm Beach, Florida, area. The two have been photographed together, including with Stewarts former wife, Rachel Hunter, and musician Kenny G at Trumps Mar-A-Lago in 1998.
Stewart had previously mentioned his friendship with Trump in a 2018 interview, stating that he had known the former President for a long time and had performed concerts for him in his casinos. The singer, who lives three-quarters of a mile down the road from Trump, also mentioned that the former President had been extremely friendly to him and had allowed his friends to use his golf course for free. However, Stewart did not consider Trump a great President, stating that his moral compass was way off. He also credited former President Obama for the countrys economic success, saying that Trump was merely carrying on the momentum.

In 2020, after Trump removed the United States from the Paris climate accord, Stewart expressed his concern about global warming during an interview on Virgin Radio. He criticized Trumps decision to withdraw from the agreement, stating that it was terrible and that global warming would spoil the Earth.
