A bizarre series of disruptions marred back-to-back WNBA games this week, as sex toys were repeatedly hurled onto the court during Chicago Sky matchups against the Golden State Valkyries.
According to The Post Millennial, the spectacle began Thursday night when a bright green dildo landed on the floor mid-game, forcing a stoppage in play and prompting swift action from players and security. Chicago Sky star Angel Reese immediately identified the alleged culprit, and a video posted by LoJo Media helped expose the dildo-thrower, who was subsequently arrested and barred from attending future league games.
League officials confirmed that the individual involved in Thursdays incident has been banned, a basic step toward restoring order in a sport already struggling for mainstream credibility. Yet on Friday night, at least three more dildos were tossed onto the court, suggesting either copycat behavior or a coordinated stunt, and it remains unclear whether those responsible have been identified or detained.
Following the Friday disruptions, Valkyries guard Natasha Cloud, who publicly identifies as bisexual, responded not by condemning the breakdown of basic decorum, but by launching into a profanity-laced tirade aimed primarily at male fans. After the third object hit the floor, Cloud declared how "gay" she believed the behavior to be, turning a security and sportsmanship issue into a culture-war monologue.
"Y'all lame as f*ck, sorry mom," Cloud said, blasting those she assumed were behind the stunt. "In most of these occasions, it's men. I want you to know that is the gayest thing that you can do, is to go to a store, a sex shop, buy a dildo, come to a women's game, to throw the dildo on the court. That is the gayest sh*t that I've ever heard. I'm a firm believer in anyone that has so much problem with a certain marginalized group, just come out and say that you're a part of our marginalized group, because that hate is unwarranted. It's not factual."
"And it says more about the internal struggles of that individual than it ever will say about the collective group. The men that are throwing it, it also shows that you are weak, like extremely weak. And it says a lot about how you feel about women. You don't care about the disruption of the game, you all lame as sh*t, you all gay to us. We see it. Keep throwing them if you just want to keep telling us you're gay," she added.
While the league grapples with these juvenile disruptions, many observers note that the real issue is the erosion of basic standards of conductboth in the stands and behind the microphone. Instead of focusing on competition, athletic excellence, and respect for the game, the WNBA now finds itself mired in vulgar theatrics that do little to attract families, sponsors, or the broader fan base that professional sports depend on.
