Alina Habba moved swiftly to quash mounting speculation that she is poised to become the next White House press secretary.
According to Breitbart, Habbas name surged to the top of betting markets after she emerged as the favorite on the prediction platform Kalshi, prompting a wave of rumors that she was preparing to join President Donald Trumps communications team. Habba, a prominent attorney and staunch defender of the President, made clear she has no plans to trade the courtroom for the briefing room.
Flattered by the Kalshi odds, but Im not in the running for any job, Habba said, directly addressing the chatter surrounding her political future. However, if Im getting a new one, Id love for one of these anonymous sources to let me know first.
She also took aim at the media ecosystem that helped fuel the speculation, underscoring a familiar conservative critique of the press. Fake news remains the undefeated champ well until I come at them, she added, signaling she remains ready to confront hostile coverage but not from behind the lectern.
Habba currently leads Kalshis prediction market on who could become the next White House press secretary, standing at 38 percent. She is followed by CNN commentator Scott Jennings at 28 percent and White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly at 14 percent, reflecting a field that spans both media and current administration insiders.
The position will officially open at the end of August, after current Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced she is stepping down to focus on her young family. She recently returned from maternity leave after giving birth to her daughter in May, highlighting the intense personal demands of serving in a high-pressure role at the center of national politics.
Leavitt said the demands of the job made it difficult to balance her role with motherhood: Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least. The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.
President Donald Trump has said Leavitt will remain a top outside adviser, ensuring her conservative voice and media savvy continue to shape the administrations message even after she leaves the podium. No replacement has yet been named, though Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow recently assessed the prospect of Jennings stepping into the role, saying, Hed have to be pretty ambitious to do it. But if he did, I think the White House would be incredibly lucky to have Scott for obvious reasons.
