A prominent former Democratic fundraiser is sounding the alarm that big-money donors are finished bankrolling Kamala Harris, exposing a financial and ideological crisis inside the Democratic Party as it lurches further left.
According to the Gateway Pundit, Lindi (also reported as Lindy) Li, a former DNC fundraiser who has appeared on multiple television networks, has been publicly detailing what she describes as reckless and incompetent spending during Harriss 2024 presidential bid. She notes that Democrat donors poured nearly $2 billion into Harriss campaign, yet the operation still ended in debt, a glaring red flag for any serious investor in politics.
As reported by FOX News, Li told My View with Lara Trump that major donors now see Harris as a bad bet and are unlikely to underwrite another presidential run. She argued that the party is beset by internal fractures, fundraising woes, and a weak 2028 bench, all while the Democratic Socialists of America gain influence within the partys ranks.
Li stressed that serious contributors treat political giving as a business proposition and will not keep writing checks to campaigns or committees that squander their money. She blasted Democratic leadership for failing to conduct an honest post-election reckoning, saying donor anger is feeding a broader financial collapse on the left.
Theres been no accountability. The autopsy that they sent out was basically a sham, and they couldnt even stand behind it. They didnt even mention the fact that Kamala Harris is a terrible candidate, she said. Kamala Harris is living in fantasyland [thinking] that big donors would bet on her again, she added. She should just go away because the American people do not want her agenda.
Li went further, tying the partys financial distress directly to its embrace of socialism and radical policies. This is why donors like me left the party in droves. And this is why they are so broke. They literally had to put up their own headquarters as collateral. They cant even get a text back from donors. So I dont want to hear anything about a big tent. You should not be normalizing socialism like this, she said.
For conservatives, Lis account confirms what many have long argued: a party that normalizes socialism and identity politics will eventually alienate both voters and serious financial backers. Kamala Harris may be leading in some early primary polls, but without donor confidence and with the partys establishment unable to impose accountability, her prospects for another viable national run look increasingly remote.
