Hunter Biden used a BBC Newsnight appearance this week to acknowledge two realities his family had largely skirted in public: his fathers cancer has advanced, and the sweeping presidential pardon that spared him further prosecution was not good for the country.
According to RedState, Hunter was pressed on whether President Joe Bidens decision to pardon him served the Constitution, the American people, or the former presidents legacy. Hunter did not equivocate. No, on all counts, he said. It was not.
The younger Biden went on to confirm that his fathers prostate cancer, first revealed in May 2025, has spread, metastasized into his bones and further. He described the condition as very painful and very debilitating, growing visibly emotional as he spoke about the former presidents suffering.
The only thing that Id say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because its not good, he said.
That stark admission arrives on top of a long-running debate over Joe Bidens fitness for office, a debate that predated the public disclosure of his illness.
Biden, who left office as the oldest man ever to serve as president, spent his final year under intense scrutiny over his mental acuity and physical stamina. In the final weeks of his term, he reversed course, issuing a full and unconditional pardon that covered Hunters felony gun conviction, nine federal tax charges to which he had pleaded guilty, and any federal offense committed between 2014 and 2024.
