Disgraced Florida Democrat Andrew Gillum is back behind bars after prosecutors say he skipped a mandatory drug test and then tested positive for methamphetamine while under court supervision in Alabama.
According to The Gateway Pundit, Baldwin County Assistant District Attorney John Oxford told TMZ that Gillum was enrolled in Alabamas random color code drug-testing program, which requires defendants to call a hotline daily and report for testing whenever their assigned color is announced. Oxford stated that Gillums color was called, but the former Tallahassee mayor failed to appear as required under the programs rules.
When Gillum finally appeared in court, he was subjected to a drug test on the spot. Prosecutors say that test came back positive for methamphetamine, and authorities immediately took him back into custody.
This latest legal setback comes less than a month after a traffic stop in Daphne, Alabama, where police allegedly uncovered a small drug stash in his vehicle. Officers reportedly found three grams of methamphetamine, eight pre-rolled marijuana joints, four cut straws, three pipes, and a bong during that July encounter.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, police said they pulled Gillum over on July 2 on U.S. Highway 98 for erratic driving and quickly spotted a glass pipe in plain view on the center console, giving them probable cause to search the vehicle. What they found, according to the Daphne Police Department and an incident report obtained by TMZ, was three packages of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine (about 3 grams), several rolled marijuana cigarettes/joints, a bong, multiple pipes, and cut straws.
Gillum was booked into the Daphne City Jail and later transferred to the Baldwin County Correctional Facility on charges including unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released the following day, only to now face renewed incarceration after allegedly violating the terms of his supervision.
This marks the third time Gillum has been publicly linked to methamphetamine, underscoring the collapse of a onetime Democrat star once touted as a future national figure. In March 2020, Miami Beach police found him inebriated and vomiting in a Mondrian South Beach hotel room alongside a male escort suffering from a suspected drug overdose, where officers recovered three small baggies of suspected crystal methamphetamine in the room.
At the time, Gillum denied using meth, claimed he had only been drinking, and later checked into rehab for alcohol abuse, and no charges were filed. For many conservatives who remember how aggressively the media targeted President Donald Trump and other Republicans over far less, Gillums repeated brushes with serious drug allegations raise fresh questions about double standards, accountability, and the judgment of a Democratic Party that once elevated him as a model leader.
