An armed suspect under prior criminal investigation was arrested at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, after allegedly surveilling security procedures ahead of President Trumps scheduled appearance at a Republican fundraiser.
According to RedState, plainclothes federal agents observed 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey, California, walking the grounds of the coastal golf resort on Sunday while photographing and recording activities on the property. Among the scenes he is said to have focused on were the security preparations being made for the president's Tuesday-night Republican fundraiser at the club.
Authorities reported that Taele appeared to be closely monitoring or documenting those security measures when deputies from the Lomita Sheriffs Station arrived at approximately 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time and detained him. Once in custody, officials determined that Taele was already the subject of a robbery investigation being conducted by the El Segundo Police Department.
During a pat-down search, deputies allegedly discovered a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition in Taeles pants pocket. A subsequent search of his vehicle, parked in the clubs lot, turned up a loaded handgun with a round in the chamber, along with another loaded magazine containing hollow-point rounds.
Taele was taken into custody on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition, both serious offenses under Californias stringent gun-control regime. For many conservatives, the incident underscores the reality that even some of the toughest gun laws in the nation do not prevent dangerous individuals from arming themselves, but instead often burden law-abiding citizens.
The investigation did not end at the golf course. When officers searched Taeles residence, they reportedly recovered an illegally modified AR-platform rifle; a 1911 .45-caliber pistol; an AR-platform upper receiver; body armor; high-capacity magazines; bulk pistol and rifle ammunition; two radio signal devices; and multiple notebooks containing what authorities described as concerning statements.
