In light of all the renewed interest in my family affairs I am going to file my own paperwork for an ethics investigation into myself to clear my name from these horrific attacks on myself and family, Miller declared, emphasizing his intent to go on offense rather than allow political opponents and media narratives to define him. I have absolutely nothing to hide.
Reiterating his stance, Miller added, We will be providing the committee all necessary documents needed for a detail [sic] examination. The accusations continue to change, but my facts stay the same. I am looking forward to my colleagues reading everything for themselves. The relationship between Miller and Emily Moreno has been deeply strained, with the pair divorcing in 2025 and subsequently locked in a contentious custody dispute over their daughter. Sen. Bernie Moreno, who has aligned himself with his daughter in the dispute, escalated the pressure by demanding Miller step down from Congress, asserting that the lawmaker needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake. Over the weekend, Moreno made clear that the controversy has inflicted deep emotional strain on his family, turning a private family rupture into a public political crisis.
On Tuesday, Moreno described the ordeal as the seventh level of hell. He continued, This has been a horrific experience for my entire family. My daughter lives in constant fear of this man, not like something thats existential, but deeply in her heart, she fears what this guy is capable of, adding, You cant you cant fathom what that makes me feel like when the dads number one job is to protect your kids. This has been brutal, beyond comprehension.
Miller, however, has remained defiant, refusing to abandon his race against Democrat Brian Poindexter, a union ironworker and Brook Park city councilman who secured his partys nomination in May. President Trump, who endorsed Miller as part of a broader effort to fortify a conservative majority in the House, has not asked him to withdraw, though he reportedly phoned the congressman on Monday to voice concerns about the political fallout and the impact on the broader America First movement.
