According to Breitbart, Jones appeared on the Conan OBrien Needs a Friend podcast, where she declared, Trump is a piece of shit, but Trump did come in here and show us that our shit aint as tight as we thought. OBrien, who has long aligned himself with Hollywoods liberal consensus, responded approvingly to the outburst, telling Jones, That was healing.

Jones argued that President Trump has exposed the weakness of the political establishment, claiming, Hes telling everybody, Theyre not going to do anything. Theyre just going to bitch. Thats all theyre going to do. And the Democrats are showing up to a gunfight with a piece of cake. She went on to insist that the partys older leadership must step aside, saying, And the old Democrats should know to just go away. Just sit down and let the more progressive and aggressive Democrats step up and fight this fight the way that theyre fighting it.

The Ghostbusters actress framed the current political climate as a crisis of courage on the left, remarking, Were scared of someone, and I dont know why were scared of them. Were looking at the most obvious problem and its showing that us as a community have been beaten to submission, and forgotten that we are the people. Pressing her point, she asked, Were the people. Are we going to watch this crumble down or are we going to do something?

Jones also cast comedians as emotional first responders in turbulent times, asserting, As comedians, were part of that, too. When I go out, I try to make people laugh like a mother fucker, because you need an hour of relief, child. Thats what our job is. She further claimed that a comedians role is to take you away from your problems for a little while, and maybe laugh at them too.

Describing the impact of live performance, Jones said, Because you leave there going, You know what? That aint so bad. That person that was on stage just told me shes going through what Im going through, too,' before urging, Like, community, get out, touch some grass, turn your fucking TV off. After apologizing by saying, Im sorry. Im in here preaching, she was reassured by OBrien, who replied, No, that was good. That was fantastic. That was healing.

Jones then veered into even more extreme rhetoric, boasting, People want me to be president, but Im too hard, and fantasizing about a regime in which executions would be carried out by throwing death row inmates into volcanoes. Her comments, cheered on by OBrien, highlight once again how much of the entertainment industry has normalized vulgar attacks on President Trump and openly radical prescriptions for American politics, even as many ordinary voters continue to look for stability, restraint, and respect for life and the rule of law.
