Netanyahu Rushes To Washington As Lindsey Grahams Funeral Becomes High-Stakes Trump Summit

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to Washington, DC, this weekend for his first visit since the outbreak of the war with Iran, where he is expected to attend the memorial service for Sen.

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and confer with President Donald Trump.

According to Breitbart, Netanyahu is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. capital on Saturday night and remain through Tuesday to pay his respects to the late senator, Israeli sources said. Graham died last Saturday night after reportedly suffering a tear in his aorta, and funeral arrangements are still being finalized as organizers coordinate the arrival of international dignitaries, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) told reporters.

Sources also told the outlet that Netanyahu intends to meet with Trump during the visit, though the session has not yet been formally placed on the schedule. Netanyahus previous trip to the United States, in early February, likewise included a meeting with Trump focused on their nations shared approach to Iran and the Gaza conflict, underscoring a close strategic partnership often downplayed by the current U.S. administration.

While the two leaders agreed in an early July phone call to meet soon, Breitbart reported that Netanyahus main commitment on this visit will be attending Grahams funeral, reflecting the late senators stature among pro-Israel conservatives. Netanyahu issued a statement on Sunday mourning Grahams sudden passing, calling him a great friend of Israel and a cherished friend of mine.

Lindsey understood that the security of Israel and America are inseparable. He devoted his life to defending America, strengthening our alliance and standing up for the free world, the prime minister added, highlighting Grahams legacy as a steadfast advocate of a strong U.S.-Israel alliance and a robust American role on the world stage.
