Fox News hosts are warning that Republicans are underestimating the growing electoral success of Democratic Socialists, arguing that the far left is winning key battles and reshaping American politics in ways conservatives can no longer afford to ignore.
According to Mediaite, Fridays edition of the Fox News program featured Lawrence Jones, Emily Compagno, and Brian Kilmeade sounding the alarm over the number of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates who have secured primary victories nationwide. The hosts highlighted a list of dozens of far-left contenders heading into the midterm elections, contending that their rise reflects a broader ideological shift rather than isolated flukes in deep-blue districts.
One of those candidates, Graham Platner of Maine, won his primary but is now set to be replaced after being accused of sexual assault by an ex-girlfriend, an allegation he denies. Platner ultimately dropped his campaign, but the hosts argued that the controversy surrounding one candidate does not diminish the broader trend of socialist-aligned figures gaining traction.
Jones insisted that any attempt by Democrats to quietly swap out controversial nominees would not fool voters, yet he stressed that the real danger lies in the movements expanding influence. He maintained that Republicans have failed to treat the far-left surge with the seriousness it demands, particularly among younger voters.
Compagno referenced a report, citing a source familiar with internal discussions, describing the long-term planning of DSA in terms of radical policy goals. Those proposals reportedly include eliminating the U.S. Senate, defunding the Department of Defense, and replacing both the presidency and the Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.
Jones dismissed DSA as anti-the foundation of how this country was built and urged Republicans to reorient their efforts toward college campuses, where he said young Americans are being systematically indoctrinated. He warned that the lefts appeal to grievance politics and resentment of wealth is resonating with a generation that has been taught to distrust markets, borders, and traditional institutions.
The main point is there was this massive talking point that this is just liberal states and, you know, liberal districts where this is happening. Im sorry, this is happening all across the country, and they have some platforms that a lot of young people and a lot of people that have grievances with the rich are going with. Its anti-American, its anti-jew, its anti-Israel, its anti-the foundation of how this country was built. They believe that our country is deeply flawed. And theyre winning. So, you got to have a Republican Party that speaks truth to power on all of they dont even want the police! They dont want any borders. One candidate said, I dont care if they committed a crime and they are illegal immigrant, you should still not be able to deport them. So were not talking about reasonable people make the case because these young people are showing up to vote. And the college-educated I know there was some headline about us talking about this the other day but these college-educated people have been indoctrinated and theyre not rational. They dont understand the markets or any of that. They understand this new world order. and theyre voting for this as well. We got to start focusing back on the college campuses again.
Compagno echoed Joness concern, emphasizing that the phenomenon extends far beyond a few coastal enclaves and warning that the ideological tide is rising nationwide. She described the spread of far-left candidates as abjectly frightening, arguing that conservatives must recognize the scale and coordination of the movement.
Some are framing this as sort of an east-to-west wave. It is not. It is a tide rising all around us, she said. These candidates have been erupting, have been fomenting all across the country. Youre absolutely right, starting with college campuses, city council, mayors, district attorneys, et cetera. So theyre all around you. They are all around us. And it is abjectly frightening.
For conservatives, the message from the Fox News panel was clear: the DSAs agendaranging from dismantling core constitutional structures to weakening national defense and erasing bordersposes a direct challenge to the American system of limited government and ordered liberty. With young, college-educated voters increasingly drawn to these ideas and turning out at the polls, the hosts argued that the Republican Party must reengage the cultural and educational battlegrounds it has too often ceded, or risk watching the far left consolidate power in institutions that shape the countrys future.
