The Trump brand has been affixed to yet another American landmark, this time atop one of South Floridas most prominent transportation gateways.
According to Fox News, President Donald J. Trump International Airport officially opened under its new name on Thursday, with Eric Trump marking the occasion by taking the first flight into the newly rebranded hub. "There's no way in hell I was letting UPS be the first plane to land, so we got on Trump Force One... we touched down at exactly 5:01 a.m. this morning, and it was a beautiful day," he told "Fox & Friends."
The airport, long known as Palm Beach International Airport, had carried that name for nearly fifty years before state leaders moved to honor the 45th president. "I don't think there's anybody more synonymous with Palm Beach than Donald Trump," Eric Trump said, underscoring his father's enduring presence in the region.
The rebranding reflects President Trumps deep and sustained ties to Palm Beach, where his Mar-a-Lago estate sits just a few miles from the runways he has used for decades. The presidents frequent arrivals and departures from the facility helped cement its association with his political rise and his tenure in the White House.
Eric Trump emphasized that the choice of aircraft for the inaugural landing was deliberate, linking Trump Force One to pivotal moments in modern American politics. "This is the plane that carried him to victory... It was the backdrop of so many of the presidential campaign stops," he recalled.
"There's so many stops with us as a family, so it was an incredibly special moment for us this morning," he added, describing the flight as both a family milestone and a patriotic tribute. For supporters, the ceremony served as a reminder of the movement that reshaped the Republican Party and challenged the Washington establishment.
Thursdays event capped the implementation of a law signed earlier this year by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, formally redesignating the facility as President Donald J. Trump International Airport in recognition of the presidents longstanding connection to the area. The move reflects a broader willingness among conservative-led states to honor leaders who championed secure borders, economic growth, and a more assertive America on the world stage.
Reflecting on the first landing under the new name, Eric Trump said the moment was about far more than signage or ceremony. "It's just a special moment. He's a man that deserves it. He's the man that's done so much for this country," he said.
"He's fought like hell for all of us and, as a son who worked so hard to make this happen, I couldn't be more proud. Today was a really, really special moment," he added, casting the renamed airport as a lasting tribute to a presidency that continues to shape the nations political landscape.
