Twice-defeated Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is openly encouraging entrenched intelligence officials to withhold information from Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, underscoring the ongoing clash between the elected executive and the unelected bureaucracy.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, Clinton made her remarks on the Democracy Docket podcast hosted by Democrat operative Marc Elias, a key figure in past efforts to undermine President Trump. Elias asked Clinton for her reaction to President Trumps decision to tap federal housing regulator Bill Pulte as Acting DNI following Tulsi Gabbards resignation, a move that has rattled the permanent Washington class.
Clinton dismissed Pulte as dangerous and labeled him a loose cannon, arguing that he lacks experience in the intelligence community and therefore should be treated with suspicion by those under his authority. The DNI has access to everything, everything that they want to see, Hillary Clinton said, according to Just The News, before adding, I mean, I hope there are career and even political appointees in various of the agencies that are slow-walking or refusing to share information with Pulte.
Her comments came as Pulte has begun aggressively cleaning house inside the intelligence apparatus, a long-standing demand of conservatives who see the so?called Deep State as hostile to President Trump and his agenda. Last week Bill Pulte fired over 50 career intelligence officials, prompting one source to tell CNN, The Deep State firings have begun.
According to CBS News, Pulte dismissed six political intelligence staffers and reassigned 45 others back to their home agencies, while CNN reported that six of those removed were political appointees originally chosen by Tulsi Gabbard. Pulte, for his part, emphasized his commitment to national security and the professionals who serve it, stating, Today, I spent time with the National Counterterrorism Center team, who is doing an incredible job protecting our Country under President Trumps leadership. The room was filled with true professionals and American patriots. It is a privilege to work beside them.
