A transgender-identifying male who allegedly plotted a mass shooting at a Las Vegas-area casino is in custody after police intercepted him with an arsenal of weapons and ammunition.

The 36-year-old suspect, identified as Allison Howlett, a biological male who identifies as female, was arrested and charged with making terrorist threats, assault with a deadly weapon, gun theft, auto theft, and related offenses, according to The Post Millennial. Police say the case unfolded after Howletts former spouse contacted authorities that morning to report a stolen vehicle containing multiple firearms, prompting an urgent response from Henderson law enforcement.

Using a phone-based tracking system, the former spouse directed officers to the stolen car, which was located in the parking lot of the Sunset Station Hotel. An officer approached Howlett inside the vehicle, but the suspect refused to step out, escalating concerns that the situation could turn violent.

At one point, Howlett requested water from officers, creating a narrow opening for police to act. When she asked for water, the quick-thinking officers developed a plan to take her into custody as an opportunity arose when she reached for the water, Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader stated, adding, Officers used that moment to gain control of her hands and remove her from the vehicle.

Once Howlett was pulled from the car, officers immediately discovered a handgun and an MP5 machine gun inside. A further search of the vehicle uncovered 22 additional firearms along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition, underscoring how close the public may have come to a catastrophic attack.

A subsequent search of Howletts residence revealed 30 more firearms, including automatic weapons and grenade launcher attachments, raising serious questions about how such a cache was amassed without earlier intervention. A report by the New York Post noted that officers concluded Howlett had been issuing threats for years, including a 2024 call in which the suspect warned, I swear to God, if the FBI doesnt come f*cking arrest me, theres gonna be a f*cking mass shooting, as allegedly captured in a recording played at Tuesdays briefing.

Howletts bail was set at $500,000 during an initial court appearance, reflecting the gravity of the alleged plot and the scale of the weapons involved. He remains held at the Clark County Detention Center as the investigation proceeds, a case that will likely intensify debate over public safety, mental health, and the failure of federal authorities to act decisively on explicit threats before lives are put at risk.
