Rock legend Gene Simmons, the iconic KISS frontman, is once again challenging Hollywoods groupthink by openly defending President Trump and the dignity of the presidency, even at personal cost to his career.
During a recent sit-down with Bill OReilly, Simmons revealed that he has lost those two or three shows after refusing to join the entertainment industrys ritual denunciations of President Trump, according to Gateway Pundit. As reported by Gateway Pundit, Simmons recounted how local interviewers tried to bait him into attacking the President, only to be met with an unapologetic defense of both the mans legitimacy and the office he holds.
OREILLY: Can you tell us how you got iced on occasion? SIMMONS: There were maybe two or three shows where somebody asked me on camera, locally as Im doing interviews, what do you think of the president?
And I said I dont have any problem getting the Kennedy Center awards at all. Hes the president of these United States and he was legally voted into power. And if you dont like the man, you can at least respect the presidency.
This idea of just banding about Trump this and Trump that No! Its President Trump. Just like a doctor, I dont like my doctor but hes a doctor. Dr. so and so.
And that was not a popular sentiment. OREILLY: Did anybody confront you on it?
SIMMONS: Yes, I lost those two or three shows. In another clip from the same appearance, Simmons also declares he is a huge fan of the border wall, underscoring his support for strong national borders and the rule of law.
At a time when most celebrities fall all over themselves to prove how far left they are, Simmons stance highlights how intolerant the entertainment establishment has become toward even basic respect for a duly elected President. His experience raises a larger question for the industry: if a rock icon can be punished simply for saying Its President Trump, what does that say about the state of free expression in American culture today?
