Sen. John Fetterman is sounding the alarm over his partys lurch to the hard Left after a slate of socialist-aligned candidates scored victories in New Yorks congressional primaries, warning that Democrats are drifting away from the voters they claim to represent.
According to Sean Hannity, the Pennsylvania senator reserved his sharpest criticism for what he called the dirt bag Left, accusing radical activists of celebrating candidates whose agendas sit far outside the American mainstream. Fetterman told Hannity, Its just been the dancing days of the dirt bag Left with some of these candidates are outrageous, adding, You have candidates they [want to] abolish ICE, abolish the police, abolish the border.
Those remarks came as candidates backed by New York City socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani racked up a series of primary wins, underscoring the growing clout of the partys most extreme faction. Far-left Democrats Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier both declared victory, with Avila Chevalier openly describing herself as a prison abolitionist and opposing deportations of illegal immigrants.
Fetterman argued that these victories are not merely intra-party skirmishes but a direct assault on traditional Democrats who still see themselves as moderates. A lot of these candidates that very likely are going to win tonight, just declaring a war on just regular Democrats, Fetterman said.
The senator further warned that openly socialist and even communist ideologies are no longer fringe curiosities but are gaining real traction within the Democratic coalition. Theyre all socialists, of course, and now theres a communist and now a Marxist, he said, pointing to Maine as a troubling example.
We have P-Hustle in Maine. You know, thats another one. Hes a self-avowed communist, too. Well, thats not even looked down on, and its a significant part of the Democratic Party right now, Fetterman added, highlighting how normalized these views have become among party activists. P-Hustle was a username previously used online by Maine Democratic nominee Graham Platner, whose past social media posts included anti-Christian, vulgar and sexually explicit comments.
Tuesdays contests also produced a shock result in Manhattan, where former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander defeated incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman, further signaling the rise of the progressive wing over more establishment figures. For conservatives, these outcomes confirm that the Democratic Party is increasingly defined by its most radical voices rather than by working-class pragmatism or traditional American values.
Fetterman, who has repeatedly broken with his party on issues such as immigration enforcement and support for Israel, cautioned that embracing these far-left candidates will make Democrats toxic outside deep-blue enclaves. The party is becoming increasingly out of step with the American people, he said, a warning that many on the Right would argue is already being borne out at the ballot box.
