South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has secured the Republican nomination for governor after winning the GOP primary runoff, further underscoring the states continued shift toward unapologetically conservative leadership.
According to the Gateway Pundit, Wilson prevailed over Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette in Tuesdays runoff after a closely watched contest that drew intense interest from grassroots conservatives. The race was notable not only for its stakes but for President Donald Trumps unusual decision to back both candidates, a move that highlighted the strength of the MAGA movement in South Carolina rather than any internal division.
President Trump had initially endorsed Evette in May, but after Wilson advanced to a runoff with her, he opted for a rare double endorsement. In a statement, he wrote, These were the two that I was hoping would get into a Runoff, and they did. I cant hurt one of them by only Endorsing the other, so, therefore, I am going to Endorse, for Governor of South Carolina, both Pam Evette and Alan Wilson!
The President further praised both contenders as reliable America First allies, signaling his confidence in either outcome. Trump added, Its a Wealth of Riches With either one you cant go wrong. Vote for Pam or Alan They will not let you down!
In his full endorsement message, President Trump lauded the Palmetto State and its conservative leadership. I love the Wonderful State of South Carolina for every reason in the book, including the fact that it is loaded up with truly GREAT people and Political Leaders, he said, adding that Evette and Wilson have had amazing careers, and have been with me from the beginning. They are MAGA and America First all the way!
Decision Desk called the race shortly after the polls closed, as Wilson jumped out to an early and steady lead over Evette. Trump then celebrated Wilsons new status as the Republican nominee on Truth Social, reinforcing his continued influence over GOP primaries nationwide.
Wilson will now face Democratic State Representative Jermaine Johnson, who captured his partys nomination earlier this month. With South Carolina having not elected a Democratic governor since 1998, the general election landscape strongly favors Wilson and the conservative policies that have defined the states recent political trajectory.
