A Twitter account that satirizes Vice President Kamala Harris has gained thousands of new followers after a similar performance mocking far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was deleted in recent days.
The Vice President Kamala Harris Official Parody profile has grown by over 10,000 followers, mocking the Vice Presidents habit of repeating herself and leaning into criticisms that her boss is too old to govern. The unknown humorist also made light of President Joe Bidens fall last week at the Air Force Academys graduation in Colorado.
Bidens campaign account has blocked the parody account, but it continues to gain traction. One post read, Yellow school buses are yellow and theyre buses and yellow is yellow and buses are buses and thats why I love yellow buses, referencing remarks Harris made during a visit to Seattle last year to tout the Biden administrations investment in electric vehicles. The post also included a picture of Harris cackling with her one-time lover, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.
Who doesnt love a yellow school bus, right? Can you raise your hand if you love a yellow school bus? Many of us went to school on the yellow school bus, right? Its part of our experience growing up. Its part of a nostalgia, a memory of the excitement and joy of going to school to be with your favorite teacher, to be with your best friends and to learn. The school bus takes us there, she said at the time.
Another tweet said, And then I told them, put the sandbags right there next to the podium, about Bidens stumble over the obstacle on stage. The post included a picture of Harris laughing with Brown.
Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez criticized the presence of the parody account linked to her name after its creator joked about the Squad rep having a crush on Twitter CEO Elon Musk, who responded with a fire emoji to the post. FYI theres a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility, she said. It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread. I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.
The parody account clapped back at Ocasio-Cortez minutes later, saying, After brainstorming with my staff Im going to push Congress to make it illegal to joke, laugh, or make fun of me. Parody should be illegal. The account, which has gotten severe engagement despite its parody label, was suspended last year but was brought back in May under Musks leadership along with thousands of other accounts banned for alleged Twitter policy violations.
