Left-wing agitators have reportedly defaced President Trumps newly restored Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial, damaging the blue sealant that gives the historic basin its striking color.
According to Gateway Pundit, President Trump initiated the renovation to rescue the nearly century-old pool from years of neglect, including chronic sinking and leaking into the swampy ground beneath. His effort follows Barack Obamas 2012 overhaul, a failed project that cost $34 millionmore than double Trumps price tagand dragged on for almost two years, while Trumps work began in April and is already complete.
The refurbished pool, reopened earlier this month with a pristine, glasslike surface, has enraged Trump-deranged residents in the overwhelmingly liberal capital who appear more offended by beautification than by vandalism. Their response underscores a broader pattern on the left: when conservatives improve cherished national symbols, radicals often answer with destruction rather than debate.
Independent journalist Emily Miller reported that a man was arrested after allegedly jumping into the pool and cutting out a huge piece of the sealant. Miller also filmed a suspect being detained by Park Police, noting, He grabbed the hose that female National Park Service workers were using to clear the algae, an apparent attempt to disrupt basic maintenance.
Additionally, journalist Nick Sortor reported that U.S. Park Police are investigating fresh vandalism on the sealant bearing the message 86 47. Authorities view the phrase as a violent threat, as 86 47 is a threat to eliminate/kill the 47th president.
Similar markings appeared in the grass on the National Mall last week, also attributed to left-wing activists and now the subject of a separate Park Police probe. As federal authorities pursue these cases, the episode highlights how unhinged anti-Trump sentiment in deep-blue Washington has escalated from online rhetoric to physical attacks on public property and thinly veiled threats against a leading presidential contender.
