Senator Katie Britt used an appearance on Fox News to deliver a sharp warning about Democrat obstruction and its consequences for national security, border enforcement, and military readiness under President Trumps America First agenda.
Speaking with Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures, Britt framed the current budget and security fights as a test of whether Washington will prioritize partisan animus or the safety of American citizens, according to Gateway Pundit. Bartiromo noted, I know you wanted to try to get a third reconciliation package out before the midterms, which would mean you would need to get it done before your August recess, setting the stage for a discussion of how far Republicans are prepared to go to secure funding for core national priorities.
Britt made clear that conservatives intend to press ahead with the Presidents program despite Democrat resistance. When it comes to continuing to advance his agenda, look, we are not gonna stop until we get it done. You saw us be able to pass this reconciliation 2.0 last week, Britt said, adding, What that did was get ICE and CBP funded for the remainder of President Trumps term.
She argued that the lefts strategy is to block the President at every opportunity, regardless of the security implications. Weve got to look at this for what it is. Democrat obstruction at every single turn. We have made sure that we have secure borders and safe streets under President Trumps leadership, and we are not gonna back away from that, Britt explained.
Looking ahead, Britt signaled Republicans are prepared to use every available tool to ensure the armed forces are not left shortchanged. When we are looking at a reconciliation 3.0, look, we are gonna do what it takes to make sure that our military is funded, she continued. Yes, we will do what it takes, and if that is a reconciliation 3.0, then thats what we will do. We would love to go through the regular appropriations process, but Maria, at the end of the day, Democrats have shown they are absolutely unwilling to work with Republicans in any way, shape, or form, Britt explained.
Britt accused Democrats of allowing their animosity toward President Trump to override basic responsibilities of governance. Their hate for President Trump clouds their vision. They are putting that in front of the safety and security of the American people, she said, underscoring a broader conservative concern that the left would rather score political points than protect the country.
Pressed by Bartiromo on priorities heading into the midtermsWhat do you believe would be the most important thing that the GOP needs to accomplish before the midterm elections now?Britt pointed to both funding and transparency. Weve got to work to get the government funded. We need to go ahead and expose Democrats for what they are. You think about them letting FISA expire when we are having the World Cup here in the United States, Britt said.
She highlighted the stakes of that lapse in intelligence authority at a time of massive international crowds on U.S. soil. Weve got all of these visitors here, millions of visitors here. We have what is equivalent to 11 plus Super Bowls across the country with over 78 games, and they decided to let our intelligence agencies go dark, Britt warned, calling it a reckless move in an era of global threats.
For Britt, the pattern is unmistakable: I think Democrats are never gonna do anything that they think is going to help President Trump, she continued, arguing that this mindset explains everything from stalled border security measures to the refusal to engage in regular appropriations. In her view, Republicans must keep pressing reconciliation and other procedural tools not only to fund ICE, CBP, and the military, but also to force a public reckoning over a Democrat agenda that, she contends, subordinates national security to partisan warfare.
