A late-night 911 call from a terrified Georgia mother ended in silence just moments before Atlanta police discovered a crime scene so brutal it has shaken even veteran prosecutors.
According to The Blaze, officers were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. on March 14 to what was initially reported as a domestic dispute involving an injured person. When the emergency call came in, the mother could be heard desperately pleading, "Stop! Rashad, stop! Help!" before the line abruptly went dead.
Responding officers arrived to find a 4-year-old girl suffering from multiple lacerations, clutched in the arms of an adult male later identified as 35-year-old Rashad Dixon. Police said they used de-escalation tactics to separate the wounded child from Dixon, but despite being rushed to a hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
Dixon, who also sustained laceration wounds, was treated and then taken into custody. After a subsequent investigation, prosecutors concluded that Dixon had stabbed and killed his own daughter as a twisted means of retaliating against the girls mother for leaving him.
Local outlet WSB-TV obtained the audio of the 911 call, capturing the mothers frantic screams as she tried to stop the attack. "Stop! Rashad, stop! Help! she says before the line goes silent, a chilling record of the final moments before police arrived.
Prosecutors allege that Dixon stabbed the phone to cut off the emergency call, then smashed a window in the mothers car and stabbed himself in what they describe as an attempt to "evade the consequences of his actions." He now faces a long list of serious charges that could keep him behind bars for the rest of his life.
"It's a horrible case of a father taking the life of his child to punish the mother," Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said, condemning the brutality of the crime. "We're going to ask that he be put in prison for the rest of his life," Willis added, signaling an aggressive pursuit of justice.
"Sometimes they say prosecutors don't cry, but this one, when you read it, when you see some of the evidence, it's heart-wrenching, Executive District Attorney Simone Hylton said, underscoring the emotional toll of the case. Hylton noted there was a documented history of Dixon abusing the childs mother, calling the murder "an indication of the extreme events that can occur in intimate partner violence cases," a grim reminder of the stakes when warning signs of domestic abuse are ignored or minimized.
