JD Vance Walks Into The Lions Den: What Really Awaits Trumps VP On The View Next Week?

Vice President JD Vance is set to walk into hostile territory next week when he makes his first appearance on ABCs staunchly liberal daytime talk show The View."

According to Fox News, Vance is scheduled to join the program on June 16, becoming only the third sitting vice president ever to sit at the table with the shows panel. All six co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro are expected to be in studio for what amounts to a rare, high-profile encounter with an elected Republican.

The booking underscores how ideologically lopsided the show has become in recent years, even as it claims to represent a broad spectrum of American women. "The View" had a total of 341 guests in 2025, but only two of them were conservative, while 128 were liberal, according to a study conducted by the Media Research Center's NewsBusters.

Vance is expected to use the platform to highlight his new book, "Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith," while also addressing current events and outlining his priorities for the Trump administration. Vance's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

The program has long served as a megaphone for anti-Trump sentiment, with the panel frequently deriding the president and his allies. "The View" has been famously anti-Trump for years, frequently criticizing the president and members of his administration.

In March, the shows rhetoric turned personal when Hostin and Behar targeted the vice presidents wife, Usha Vance, suggesting she was "addicted" to power and insisting their values should align because the country is in an "existential crisis." Hostin argued that Usha and Vice Presidents values did not align, as she quoted Vance once saying that he hoped Usha, who is Hindu, would "come to see" and believe in the Christian gospel.

That same episode, Behar seized on Vances earlier critiques of President Donald Trump to question his loyalty now that he serves in the administration. Behar said Vance now kisses Trump's "butt every day."

For conservatives, Vances appearance will test whether a deeply progressive platform can tolerate an unapologetic defender of President Trump and traditional values, or whether the segment devolves into another televised ambush. This is a developing story, more to come
