Disgraced Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie, still reeling from a double-digit primary defeat at the hands of President Trumps endorsed Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, has now quietly positioned himself for a potential political comeback in 2028.
According to Gateway Pundit, Massie filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission indicating a 2028 bid for the U.S. House of Representatives, or possibly another federal office. The move comes despite his unequivocal promise about his political future, when Thomas Massie said: If I lose on May 19th, I am not doing any more government ever.
That stark declaration has conservatives asking why a man who vowed to walk away from public office is now laying the groundwork for another run. The apparent contradiction underscores a familiar frustration on the right with politicians who talk like principled outsiders but maneuver like career insiders.
Massie now claims the filing is merely a procedural step to keep his political machine running while he weighs his options. He argues that the paperwork is less about a specific race and more about preserving his ability to raise money and remain active in federal politics.
I filed with FEC for the 2028 House race. This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office. I havent made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run, Massie wrote. His explanation is unlikely to satisfy grassroots conservatives who took his earlier pledge at face value and are increasingly demanding accountability from elected Republicans.
Trump-backed Ed Gallrein, a fifth-generation farmer and former Navy SEAL, crushed the entrenched incumbent by more than 10 points in last Tuesdays primary. President Trump had already branded Massie a Third Rate Congressman, a Weak and Pathetic RINO, and the Worst Congressman in the History of our Country, and Gallreins decisive victory suggests GOP voters in Kentuckys 4th District were ready to move on from a politician whose words no longer match his actions.
