The Pentagon unveiled a sweeping new cache of UFO-related footage, releasing dozens of newly declassified videos under President Donald Trumps directive to pull back the curtain on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, or UAPs.
According to Sean Hannity, this latest disclosure represents the second major wave of records made public under President Trumps order instructing federal agencies to declassify unresolved UAP material. The move underscores a transparency push that stands in sharp contrast to the entrenched secrecy that has long characterized Washingtons handling of unexplained aerial encounters.
Among the most arresting clips is cockpit footage of a U.S. fighter jet downing an unidentified object over Lake Huron in February 2023, in the fraught days following the Chinese spy-balloon incident that rattled national security officials. At the time, military leaders openly conceded they did not fully understand what had penetrated American airspace.
Were calling them objects, not balloons, for a reason, then-NORAD commander Glen VanHerck said after the interception, pointedly distancing the incident from the Beijing surveillance balloon. VanHerck further acknowledged that investigators did not know how the object had managed to remain aloft over Lake Huron, highlighting the limits of current explanations.
The newly public trove also features aerial recordings of other unexplained craft maneuvering through the atmosphere, including two enigmatic objects detected near a U.S. submarine and another sighting near Columbus, Ohio. These incidents add to a growing archive of encounters that defy easy categorization, even as advanced U.S. sensors track them.
Pete Hegseth is overseeing the broader review and declassification effort, which officials say requires sifting through tens of millions of records scattered across multiple agencies. They note that the task is complicated by the fact that many historical files exist only on paper and must undergo painstaking review before release.
Given the sheer volume of material, the White House has adopted a phased-release strategy designed to gradually publish unresolved UAP-related files rather than bury the public in a single document dump. Despite the latest disclosures, the Department of War conceded that investigators still cannot make a definitive determination on the nature of the observed phenomena because of limited available data.
The department has urged outside experts and private-sector researchers to scrutinize the footage and assist in identifying the mysterious objects, opening the door to citizen-led inquiry rather than bureaucratic gatekeeping. President Trump, emphasizing accountability and public access, said the files were released because of tremendous public interest in the enduring mystery of unexplained aerial encounters.
