President Donald Trump voiced support for Spencer Pratts bid for Los Angeles mayor, telling reporters he wants to see the reality television personality succeed in the race.
According to The Post Millennial, the President, speaking before boarding Air Force One, praised Pratts political alignment and momentum in the campaign. Trump told reporters, "Id like to see him do well," and said he has heard Pratt is a "big MAGA person," adding, "hes doing well."
The President also renewed his longstanding criticism of Californias election system, arguing that conservatives face an uphill battle in the deep-blue state. "You have a rigged vote out there," he continued, "thats the problem. The votes are rigged. You have a really rigged vote in California. You have all the mail-in ballots, everything else, very hard to win. The elections are very dishonest. If we had Jesus Christ come down and count the votes, I would have won California, because I do great with Hispanics, but its a rigged vote."
Recent polling suggests Pratts insurgent campaign is gaining traction despite the states entrenched progressive leadership. One of the latest polls showed that Pratt gained 12 points between March and May, bringing him to 22 percent support, while incumbent Mayor Karen Bass held 30 percent support in May and, along with fellow candidate Nithya Raman, saw a smaller 10-point increase over the same period.
The Presidents remarks quickly reverberated through the race, prompting a pointed response from the progressive wing. In response to Trumps comments, Raman quoted Trump, writing on social media, "I heard hes a big MAGA person," while Pratt replied with a gif of himself, signaling he is comfortable embracing the America First label in a city long dominated by liberal politics.
