In a dramatic revelation on Timcast IRL, James O'Keefe unveiled details surrounding a lawsuit against him by Project Veritas, the organization he established, which ousted him earlier this year.
The legal tussle in New York alleges financial irregularities and misuse of funds for personal purposes, with added accusations of contract violation. The litigants seek to prohibit O'Keefe from utilizing the investigative techniques he created for Veritas in his new enterprise, O'Keefe Media Group (OMG).
In a significant turn of events, Dan Strack, executive director of both Project Veritas and Project Veritas Action, is reported to have tendered his resignation. Strack, previously of Goldman Sachs and recruited by O'Keefe, admitted to the substantial challenges faced in the past four months, lamenting, "I no longer know how to help." Notably, Strack's resignation is yet to be confirmed by Veritas and remains unverified by independent sources, including O'Keefe.
While discussing these developments, Tim Pool, the host, stressed Veritas's significant achievements, mainly due to the innovative tools that O'Keefe introduced. "They attacked all the things that you are doing without pointing out that Veritas is extremely successful," he noted. O'Keefe continues to foster and develop citizen journalism through OMG, his new company.
According to Pool, Veritas's primary aim seems to prevent OMG from surpassing them. O'Keefe was not just the founder of Veritas but also its creator, prime mover, and principal fundraiser. "You better surround yourself with really strong humans who can withstand blistering attacks," O'Keefe said, highlighting the resilience required in the face of potential accusations, regardless of their validity.
Pool suggested that Veritas might have been "captured," adding, "what little was left of Project Veritas is completely gone," referring to the lawsuit that could obliterate the founding figure.
O'Keefe, ousted on February 10, according to him and his legal team, maintains that he was unceremoniously fired. However, while denying this dismissal, Veritas had placed him on leave, effectively sidelining him from his own organization.
On Timcast, O'Keefe narrated his saga, describing his intense commitment to Veritas and the ordeal of being ousted. His tale served as an intimate reflection on the intricate dynamics of leading an organization and the trials one may face.
