According to Gateway Pundit, the visit followed his recent decision to overhaul what he has repeatedly described as a neglected national landmark. Last month, the President announced he is renovating the filthy Reflecting Pool and vowed it will be colored American flag blue.
Youre going to end up with a beautiful, beautiful reflecting pool, the way its supposed to be, Trump said to reporters last month. Much better than it ever was, actually. His renovation project is estimated to cost about $1.5 million, a fraction of the $34 million the Obama administration spent on the same site.
President Trumps drive through the Reflecting Pool allowed him to see the progress firsthand and greet the team of contractors restoring the iconic space. The President also took questions from reporters amid breaking news of an escalation in the Strait of Hormuz.
An ABC News reporter pressed him on why he is prioritizing the Reflecting Pool while the United States is at war with Iran, asking, Why focus on these projects when gas prices are soaring? Trump responded sharply: You know why? Because I want to keep our country beautiful and safe! Beautiful also! This was a disgusting place.
