Democrat Eric Swalwell, once touted as a rising star in his party and a leading contender for Californias governorship, is now engulfed in a widening scandal that underscores the moral rot and lack of accountability too often tolerated in progressive political circles.
According to Gateway Pundit, the disgraced California Democrat, who recently resigned from Congress amid multiple accusations of rape and sexual assault, now faces fresh allegations that he sent explicit sexual content to women online, including videos of him masturbating. These revelations come as Swalwell, long promoted by liberal media as a youthful face of the Democratic Party, confronts criminal charges in both New York and California that could realistically result in prison time.
Mediaite highlighted a report detailing how Swalwell allegedly used Snapchat to send sexual messages to multiple women after he became one of the first lawmakers to join Snapchat and was celebrated as the Snapchat king of Congress, according to CNN. The irony is stark: the same platform he embraced as a supposed tool of transparency and civic engagement allegedly became a vehicle for personal depravity and harassment.
Former Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell was accused by multiple women of sending sexual messages, including videos of him masturbating, after becoming one of the first members of Congress to join Snapchat in an effort to restore faith in democracy. CNN reported that more than a dozen women said Swalwell made them feel uncomfortable, both in person and online, over the past decade, painting a pattern of behavior that goes far beyond a single lapse in judgment.
Several women told CNN that the Democrats conduct on Snapchat was explicitly sexual, contradicting his public image as a tech-savvy reformer. We can restore a lot of faith that people have in their democracy by opening it up a little bit more, Swalwell told The Hill in 2016 after joining the messaging service. Snapchat is a great way to do that.
To make matters worse, Swalwell is allegedly STILL communicating with former interns on social media, raising serious ethical and legal concerns about potential abuse of power and predatory behavior. His lawyers would be wise to advise him to get off the internet like yesterday as this scandal further exposes the double standard of a political class that lectures Americans on democracy while refusing to live by the basic standards of decency it demands of everyone else.
