White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has launched an official X account to provide occasional public updates on the Trump administrations work as it navigates both policy battles and renewed security threats.
According to Breitbart, Wiles amassed more than a quarter of a million followers within the first 15 hours of the accounts creation, despite not yet selecting a profile photo. Her move onto the platform comes as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt prepares to step back temporarily for maternity leave as she welcomes her daughter.
Leavitt conducted a press gaggle on Friday that was widely expected to be her final on-camera exchange with reporters before her leave. However, after another attempt on President Donald Trumps life during Saturdays White House Correspondents Dinner, she returned to the podium Monday for what is now likely her last briefing before the birth of her second child.
As I told many of you on Friday afternoon, I thought that would be my last time taking your questions until after my maternity leave, she said on Monday. But given the attempted assassination of the president and top Trump administration officials, as the depraved shooter noted in his manifesto, at the White House Correspondents Association Dinner on Saturday evening, I felt it was prudent to be here today to answer your questions and inform the American people about how the administration is responding to yet another attempt on President Trumps life, she added.
In March, Wiles revealed on her personal X account that she had been diagnosed with early-detected breast cancer and that she has a very good prognosis. President Trump emphasized that Wiles would remain nearly full-time in her role while receiving treatment, writing on Truth Social, She has a fantastic medical team, and her prognosis is excellent! During the treatment period, she will be spending virtually full time at the White House, which makes me, as President, very happy!
