Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles says he personally overheard a member of the White House press corps wish for President Donald Trump to be killed while she was hiding from gunfire during the attempted assassination at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday night.
The Republican lawmaker recounted that, as chaos unfolded and attendees scrambled for cover, a female reporter allegedly muttered, I hope they kill the orange MF. According to Gateway Pundit, Ogles described the incident during a conversation with podcast host Lynden Blake, saying he felt compelled to speak publicly about what he heard despite the sensitivity of the moment.
There was a reporter, I probably shouldnt say this, but Im going to say it, there was a reporter in the room who was under a table, and when the shots went off, and everybodys hiding, she said, I hope they kill the orange MF,' Ogles explained. That was a journalist in the room, who was hoping that when she stood up, the President of the United States would be dead, he emphasized, underscoring what many conservatives see as the medias deep-seated hostility toward President Trump and his supporters.
Ogles later posted the video clip of his remarks on his X account, writing, To the Left, its no longer a battlefield of ideas; its open warfare. He also shared the footage from his official congressional account, pairing it with a pointed reflection on the stark contrast he sees between conservative and progressive tactics.
While I was in the room, a gunman tried to kill President Trump, cabinet members, and other elected officials in DC Saturday night, Ogles wrote from his government profile. Despite this, I went to a public venue to have an honest dialogue with students who vehemently disagreed with me. My good-faith effort for civil discourse was met with shouts and name-calling. My side uses dialogue, the other side uses intimidation.
A large number of responses to his post have demanded that Ogles publicly identify the reporter, arguing that anyone who would utter such words has no business covering the White House or attending future official events. Some commenters have gone further, calling for the journalist to be reported to the Secret Service and permanently barred from the annual dinner if the allegation is substantiated.
Blake, responding to a user asking for the reporters name, said she is working to find out more on who said this.
