Jeanine Pirro Torches D.C. Council Over Teen TakeoversAnd Her Warning To Parents Is Brutal

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro sharply rebuked the D.C. Council for refusing to keep a youth curfew in place as teen violence and so?called teen takeover events continue to plague the nations capital.

According to Just The News, Pirros criticism came during a joint press conference Wednesday with D.C. Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser, who had urged the Democrat-controlled council to extend the expiring curfew into the summer months. Theyre not doing their job, Pirro said, arguing that the councils inaction leaves residents vulnerable to late-night gatherings that frequently erupt into assaults and property destruction.

Earlier this week, the council approved a new curfew framework but failed to muster enough votes to simply extend the current measure through the summer. Instead, the revised curfew is scheduled to start in the fall and must still clear congressional review on May 5 before it can take effect.

The delay comes even as activists and some local officials denounce curfews as racially discriminatory, claiming they fall more heavily on black teenagers. That criticism reflects a familiar progressive narrative that prioritizes identity politics over basic public safety, despite mounting concern from residents and law enforcement about rising youth crime.

Pirro insisted that city leaders must also confront parental responsibility when large teen gatherings spiral out of control. There can be penalties against the parents who know about the kids involvement in these teen takeovers, she said, adding, Contributing to the delinquency of a minor is a statute that might be looked at involving the parents. We also have to leverage juvenile court authority over the parents. And until we do that, this is going to continue, Pirro said, underscoring a law-and-order approach that contrasts sharply with the leniency often favored by the left.
