Eric Holder Claims Republicans Not Entitled To Power, Blasts Mid-Cycle Redistricting In Fiery Rant

Former Attorney General Eric Holder escalated his partisan attacks this week, claiming on MSNBC that Republicans pose a fundamental danger to the American system of government.

Speaking on MS NOWs All In, Holder framed Democrats as the sole guardians of democratic norms, declaring, I think that you have one party that stands for democracy, thats the Democrats, the tenants of democracy. According to Breitbart, he insisted, The idea of democracy, the notion that you let the people decide the direction of the country, belongs to his party alone, while portraying Republicans as fearful of voters and dependent on procedural tactics.

Holder boasted of Democratic appeal at the ballot box, saying, You know, Im not afraid of putting Democratic candidates and Democratic policies before the American people. Im not going to win everywhere, but Ill win, I think, in a majority of the places at both the state level and the federal level. He then accused Republicans of lacking confidence in their own agenda, asserting, Republicans are afraid of putting their candidates about putting their policies in front of the people because they dont think that they can win, and charged that the GOP relies on mechanisms like this mid-cycle redistrictingto try to hold on to power to which they are not entitled.

He further escalated his rhetoric, insisting, Im not being hyperbolic here. Im not being alarmist. But I think what youre seeing coming out of the Republican Party now really threatens our democracy. Warning of a future Republican victory, Holder said, And if we allow them to do what they are trying to do, you can have another two years of Donald Trump unchecked, before predicting that under Democratic control, A House run by Democrats will issue subpoenas. Well hold hearings. Well look at the rampant corruption of this administration. Well put administration officials under oath and ask them questions. Thats the last thing in the world that they want to have happen.
