Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona is facing intensifying scrutiny as new allegations emerge linking him to the widening scandal surrounding disgraced Democrat Eric Swalwell.
According to Gateway Pundit, Gallego has spent recent days appearing visibly rattled in media interviews, seemingly scrambling to put distance between himself and Swalwell, a political ally whose rapid collapse has stunned Washington. That effort may now be in jeopardy after Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida used a national television platform to suggest that a fresh wave of accusations is about to surface, this time aimed squarely at Gallego, and indicated she has already referred the matter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune.
GOP Rep. Luna accuses Sen. Ruben Gallego of misconduct; Gallego calls allegations conspiracy theories, CBS News reported, noting that the Arizona Democrat has flatly denied the claims. Luna told CBS News The Takeout with Major Garrett that Gallego was the previously unnamed senator she had referenced in a cryptic social media post earlier in the week, in which she hinted at very disturbing allegations.
CBS News has acknowledged it has not verified the allegations, but Luna insisted the claims are serious and multifaceted. She stated that some of the accusations are sexual in nature while others involve alleged campaign finance violations, adding that Senate Majority Leader John Thunes office confirmed to her that the matter is under investigation.
Luna further underscored Gallegos proximity to the Swalwell scandal, referring to him as a senator that was very closely tied to Eric Swalwell, the House Democrat who abruptly resigned from Congress this week following sexual misconduct allegations. She added that there is a woman that allegedly is coming forward with attorneys [and] wants to go on-record about an incident that occurred between the two of them at the same time, and the event was sexual in nature, allegedly.
For conservatives who have long warned about a culture of impunity among Democrat officeholders, the speed of Swalwells downfall is a stark reminder of how quickly political fortunes can reverse once allegations surface. If the claims against Gallego gain traction or are corroborated, his attempt to dismiss them as conspiracy theories may prove short-lived, and the Senate could soon be confronting another high-profile ethics and misconduct crisis.
