A Colorado Democrat congressman who recently appeared in a partisan video effectively urging U.S. service members to disregard President Donald Trumps supposedly illegal orders is now under fire for openly threatening the president and officials in his administration for carrying out their lawful duties.
According to WND, Rep. Jason Crow, who represents portions of the increasingly troubled Denver metropolitan suburbs, has become a lightning rod after his remarks were captured and circulated online. The lawmaker, a former Army Ranger, has shifted from insinuating that troops should question the commander in chiefs authority to vowing political retribution against those serving in the current administration, a stance that critics say undermines both civilian control of the military and the rule of law.
Crows rhetoric was unmistakably menacing. Accountability will come, sooner or later, he threatened publicly.
He continued by boasting of his own political enemies list. We are taking names. Im creating my own lists of people [who] need to have oversight and accountability. And it is so important right now, that people understand, that if youre in this administration, and youre asked to violate the law, or violate your oath, or turn your back on the Constitution, then you will be judged
The implication was clear: any action that does not conform to Democrat talking points is to be branded illegal, regardless of statutory authority or constitutional backing. Such framing conveniently ignores the extensive record of Democrats using government power to pursue their chief political rival, Donald Trump, through a barrage of investigations and prosecutions before, during and after his first term.
From the Russia-collusion hoax to the impeachments and ongoing lawfare, the lefts efforts to delegitimize and, if possible, nullify the 2016 election and now to preemptively taint the 2024 contest are still being unpacked by congressional investigators. A grand jury in Florida is also examining allegations and testimony pointing to a broad conspiracy against Trump involving numerous senior government officials, raising further questions about who has truly weaponized the justice system.
Commentators on the right note the irony of Democrats now accusing Trump of politicizing the Department of Justice after years of cheering on legal assaults against him. The same lib media and Democrats who watched the justice system be weaponized for many years against their biggest political opponent are now accusing the Trump administration of weaponizing the DOJ. Thats beyond shameless and laughable considering what weve all witnessed over the last several years, explained a writer at Twitchy.
The commentator added that Crows remarks fit a broader pattern of intimidation from the left. Now weve got a House Democrat talking about the lists hes been making (along with other Dems in Congress) so the Left remembers who to go after if their party takes back control.
The Republican National Committee highlighted Crows comments as a direct threat against the president and his team. The RNC also reminded voters that this is the same lawmaker who recently warned American troops against following the presidents orders, a message that many see as dangerously close to encouraging insubordination.
Crow was part of a Democrat group that, weeks ago, released a video cautioning service members not to comply with Trumps illegal commands, even though no specific unlawful order was identified. The production was widely viewed as an attempt to erode the chain of command within the U.S. military, with some critics going so far as to label it seditious.
Rather than retreat from those accusations, Crow has doubled down on his unsupported claims. He has also emerged as one of the loudest voices pushing the Democrat narrative that Republicans are responsible for shutting down the Department of Homeland Security, a funding standoff that has dragged on for weeks.
In reality, Democrats have tied DHS funding to their ideological demands, insisting they will not approve resources unless their preferred policies are imposed on Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Their obstruction stems from hostility to Trumps efforts to enforce existing border and immigration laws, a core responsibility of the federal government that conservatives argue has been neglected for decades.
Crow has even attacked Republicans for refusing to surrender to Democrat conditions when questioned about how the DHS impasse is affecting Denver International Airport in his own district. He went further by alleging that the Trump administration is deporting and murdering Americans, a charged claim that critics say is both inflammatory and detached from the facts.
At one point, Crow essentially acknowledged that Democrats are intent on keeping illegal aliens in the country, a position that aligns with the partys broader push for mass amnesty and relaxed enforcement. For conservatives who believe in secure borders, equal application of the law, and respect for the constitutional chain of command, Crows threats, his talk of lists, and his efforts to undermine the presidents authority over the military underscore a deeper problem: a political movement increasingly willing to criminalize disagreement and punish those who simply carry out the policies voters elected this administration to pursue.
