New Jersey Democrats Order USPS To Defy Trumps Election Integrity Crackdown

The American Left is once again in full revolt as President Donald Trump moves to fulfill a central promise of his 2016 and 2020 campaigns: restoring integrity to a national election system long plagued by fraud, lax oversight, and partisan manipulation.

According to The Gateway Pundit, New Jersey Democrats have dispatched a sharply worded letter urging the United States Postal Service to disregard the Presidents new executive order, which is designed to curb non-citizen voting and impose basic security on mail-in ballots. The effort is being led by far-left State Senator Nellie Pou (DNorth Haledon) and bears the signatures of the entire New Jersey Democratic congressional delegation, including Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim, and Representatives Frank Pallone, Donald Norcross, Bonnie Watson Coleman, Josh Gottheimer, Robert Menendez, LaMonica McIver, and Herbert Conaway.

These Democrats are enraged that President Trump is finally acting to ensure that the sacred right to vote is reserved for American citizens, not foreign nationals or ineligible registrants. Their posture underscores a familiar pattern: when conservatives move to tighten election safeguards, progressives cry suppression rather than address the underlying vulnerabilities.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, President Trump signed the Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections executive order on March 31, 2026, a landmark directive that strikes at the heart of the mail-in ballot chaos that marred recent cycles. The order instructs the Department of Homeland Security to assemble verified lists of eligible U.S. citizens, mandates that USPS implement secure barcode tracking on all mail-in ballots, and prohibits the Postal Service from delivering ballots to non-citizens; it further directs the Department of Justice to pursue election officials who knowingly issue ballots to ineligible voters.

To New Jersey Democrats, however, this is framed as an unconstitutional seizure of power by the executive branch. In their letter to Postmaster General David Steiner, they complain that the order is unlawful and claim it violates states rights under Article I, Section 4 of the Constitution, while demanding that USPS effectively ignore the Presidents instructions.

The Democrats even quote their own Voter Protection Initiative from 2022 as supposed evidence that their system already works. Yet that protection conspicuously omits the most basic safeguard of all: verifying that those casting ballots are actually American citizens.

President Trumps order is a direct response to years of documented weaknesses in mail-in voting, weaknesses Democrats have consistently defended under the guise of access and equity. Their furious letter reads less like a constitutional argument and more like an admission that they cannot prevail in truly clean elections and will resist any effort to verify citizenship or secure the ballot box.
