Ro Khanna Issues Chilling Promise To VotersDemocrats Will Impeach Trump If They Take Back The House

Democratic California Rep. Ro Khanna is openly promising that a future Democratic majority in the House of Representatives will impeach President Donald Trump if voters hand his party control in November

Speaking during an appearance on MS NOWs The Briefing, Khanna escalated his partys rhetoric by accusing Trump of threatening war crimes over his hardline stance toward Iran, according to the Daily Caller. Multiple House Democrats have already floated impeachment resolutions since Trump began his second term on Jan. 20, 2025, seizing on his aggressive posture toward illegal immigration and his authorization of strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025.

Absolutely, he should be impeached now, Khanna told guest host Ali Velshi, insisting that Democrats are prepared to use the most extreme constitutional remedy the moment they regain power. I mean, hes taken us into a disastrous war, threatening war crimes in Iran in terms of the knocking out [power] plants and knocking out electricity, and the Democrats will impeach him once we take back the House and should impeach him for all the things hes done and depending on the Senate, he may face conviction.

Khannas remarks came after Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Tehran in a March 21 Truth Social post, warning the regime to halt attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz or face U.S. strikes on its power grid. Trump subsequently announced that the planned strikes were on hold, citing the possibility of negotiations with the Iranian regime and underscoring his preference to use military pressure as leverage rather than rush into full-scale conflict.

Democrats have already demonstrated a willingness to weaponize impeachment against Trump, having impeached him twice during his first term once over a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and again over the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. In both instances, the Senate acquitted Trump, highlighting the partisan nature of the charges and the lack of a bipartisan consensus that he had committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

The impeachment drumbeat is not limited to Khanna. During a January town hall, Democratic New Jersey Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman similarly assured attendees that her party would move to oust Trump if given the chance.

And the only thing thats gonna remove him is the 25th Amendment, but that would require no, no, wait a minute that would require the vice president and members of the cabinet to move against him, but hes hired a bunch of lackeys, so theyre not going to execute the 25th Amendment, Coleman told attendees. But I tell you what, if you elect Democrats to the Senate and to the House, hell get impeached. And thats one way of getting rid of him.

Her comments, like Khannas, underscore a broader Democratic strategy that treats impeachment less as a grave constitutional safeguard and more as a partisan tool to overturn the will of voters who twice elected Trump and endorsed his tougher foreign policy and border security agenda.
