A resurfaced video of California first lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom is igniting fresh controversy as she openly celebrates using progressive gender ideology in raising her children.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, the clip, now circulating widely on social media, shows Siebel Newsom describing how she deliberately introduces her sons to traditionally feminine toys and rewrites the gender of characters in childrens books. The remarks are surfacing at a politically sensitive moment, when President Donald Trumps 2024 campaign has already highlighted Kamala Harris alignment with radical gender policies, and now Gavin Newsoms household is being linked to the same agenda.
In the undated interview, Siebel Newsom explains that she intentionally gives her boys dolls, even when they reject them. Ive given our boys dolls, even if they tear the head off, she said, adding, Ive given them dolls to learn that care and caregiving is not just an activity thats reserved for women, but that its also an activity that is a responsibility of men.
She goes further, acknowledging that she actively alters the text of childrens books to change male protagonists into female ones. What I have done with both my daughters and my sons is if Im reading a book and the protagonist is a male, I just change the he to a she, Newsom said. And it just normalizes for my sons, in particular, its not even I dont even just do it for my girls. I do it for my sons because I want them to see that women can be the center of a story, that women matter, that women are interesting.
For many parents who value traditional family roles and object to ideological experimentation on children, these comments will likely reinforce concerns about the cultural direction championed by Democrat leaders. Siebel Newsom framed her approach as part of a broader project of dismantling long-standing norms, declaring, At the end of the day, were all kind of like in this place in history maybe where were recognizing what it is to ultimately deconstruct all these gender roles and ultimately be human, and thats exciting to me, Newsom said.
Democrats are already struggling with a growing exodus of male voters, particularly working- and middle-class men who feel increasingly alienated by elite woke rhetoric and policies. When prominent figures like Gavin Newsoms wife publicly boast about deconstructing gender roles in their own homes, they do little to reassure those voters that the party understands or respects their values, instead reinforcing the perception that the left is at war with common sense and everyday American life.
