New Video: Fallen Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore Sobs In Handcuffs As Police Pull Him From Church Parking Lot SUV

Disgraced Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore wept openly as officers cuffed him and led him to the back of a police vehicle during his December arrest, a stark fall from grace for a man once entrusted with one of college footballs premier programs.

The incident unfolded on Dec. 10, shortly after Moore had been dismissed by the university, when officers found him sitting alone in a black SUV in a church parking lot, still dressed in Wolverines gear, according to The New York Post. Police bodycam footage obtained by TMZ shows officers ordering him to put his hands out the window and step out of the vehicle, an instruction delivered with the assurance, That you are not in trouble. We are here to help you.

Moore, visibly distressed, responded that being handcuffed caused him pain because of an old shoulder injury, underscoring both his physical and emotional unraveling. Once seated in the patrol car, he informed an officer that he had just been fired by Michigan, adding with resignation, Thats part of life, I guess. They wanted to fire me, anyway.

The circumstances surrounding his dismissal, however, were far from routine performance-related issues and instead reflected a deeper moral and professional breakdown. Moore allegedly engaged in an inappropriate extramarital relationship with his assistant, Paige Shriver, and then threatened her after she ended the affair and provided evidence to the university that led to his ouster.

The 40-year-old married father of three was initially charged with home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering after confronting Shriver at her residence, a serious escalation that raised concerns about personal responsibility and character in high-profile coaching roles. Those felony-level charges were later dropped when he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device in a private relationship leaving him facing up to six months in jail at his April 14 hearing.

Prosecutors say Moore sent Shriver chilling messages, including, I am going to kill myself, and, Im going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands. You ruined my life. His wife, Keli, who has continued to stand by him despite the scandal, contacted police out of fear that her husband was suicidal, prompting the welfare check that ended in his arrest.

When officers reached him, Moore denied any intent to harm himself and noted that a pair of scissors was the only notable item inside the vehicle, according to The Daily Mail. On the bodycam video, he insisted, I dont want to hurt myself, man. I got a beautiful family, kids, a reminder that behind the criminal case and moral failings lies a family now forced to live with the consequences of his actions.
