Watch: Teen Whose Transgender Father Gunned Down His Family Honors Slain Loved Ones With Unthinkable Game-Winning Goal

The Rhode Island high school hockey player whose family was shattered by a deadly shooting at one of his games has now propelled his team into the championship with a dramatic double-overtime goal.

According to The Post Millennial, North Providence High School senior Robert Dorgan, skating for Blackstone Valley, buried the game-winner just weeks after his transgender father, Roberta Dorgan, allegedly opened fire in the stands, killing Roberts mother, brother, and grandfather. It was the greatest moment of my life, Dorgan said to local news WPRI after the game.

The teenager, who has become a symbol of resilience and quiet strength, dedicated the victory to the relatives who will never again see him take the ice. He wore a patch on his jersey bearing the initials of his mother Rhonda, his older brother Aidan, and his grandfather Gerald.

The shooting also left his grandmother, Linda, critically wounded, along with family friend Thomas Geruso, underscoring the depth of the devastation inflicted on a single family. My good buddy fed me the puck, and I could hear the crowd, Dorgan recalled. It was a surreal moment.

Blackstone Valley head coach Chris Librizzi said he sensed something extraordinary as Dorgan broke free in the offensive zone, a young man channeling grief into grit. I literally cried like a baby, the floodgates opened, Librizzi said. When I saw him open, I knew he was golden.

Authorities say Robert Dorgan Sr., who had been identifying as a transgender woman named Roberta and dressing in womens clothing, used a high-powered pistol to gun down family members before turning the weapon on himself after spectators tackled him. Police reports note that family tensions had escalated in recent years, with investigators citing accounts that Gerald Dorgan asked Robert to leave the family home in 2020 following transgender-related medical procedures, a tragic reminder of how radical gender ideology can fracture families long before it erupts into violence.
