President Donald Trump is hailing fresh federal scrutiny of Arizonas most populous county after reports that the FBI has moved to obtain extensive election records from Maricopa County, a longtime flashpoint in the battle over election integrity.
According to WND, the development comes on the heels of an FBI raid last month on a Fulton County, Georgia, elections warehouse, another jurisdiction where President Trump has long challenged the handling and outcome of the 2020 vote. Maricopa County, where Joe Biden was reported to have edged out Trump in 2020 before Trump reclaimed the state in 2024, has remained at the center of conservative concerns about ballot security, chain of custody, and partisan interference in election administration.
Reacting to the latest report that federal agents demanded election records, President Trump posted a succinct but pointed response on Truth Social, writing, Great!!! The enthusiasm reflects a broader sentiment among conservatives who have argued for years that serious federal attention to irregularities in key swing counties is long overdue.
The Arizona Senate previously ordered a forensic audit of the 2020 election returns in Maricopa County, a move fiercely resisted by Democrats and many in the media but strongly supported by election-integrity advocates. State Senate President Warren Petersen, a Republican, has now confirmed that the Senate complied with a federal grand jury subpoena for documents tied to that audit.
President Trump is 100% correct, Petersen wrote on X, underscoring his alignment with the Presidents insistence that the 2020 process in Arizona warranted deep scrutiny. Late last week I received and complied with a federal grand jury subpoena for records relating to the Arizona State Senates 2020 audit of Maricopa County. The FBI has the records. Any other report is fake news.
Just the News reported Monday that, according to an anonymous source, FBI agents are receiving terabytes of electronic election data from Maricopa County pursuant to the grand jury subpoena. That same outlet noted that the data sweep is not limited to a single contest but spans multiple election cycles, including both 2020 and 2024.
Yet the Maricopa County Elections Department, in an email response to The Daily Signal, insisted it has not been formally served. Maricopa County runs safe, secure and transparent elections in accordance with the law, the statement says. We have not received a subpoena at this time but will cooperate if that were to occur.
Rep. Abe Hamadeh, R-Ariz., has been pressing for accountability in Arizonas election system, previously urging state-level action. In June last year, Congressman Hamadeh wrote to AG Bondi about disturbing allegations of blank ballots commingled with voted mail ballots in Runbecks Maricopa County warehouse, an X post from his office said Monday.
Part of the ongoing pattern of disastrous elections in State 48, the post continued. The FBI has now seized election records in its expanding probe.
Kari Lake, the Republican nominee for Arizona governor in 2022 and now a Senate candidate, has been one of the most vocal critics of Maricopas election administration. A federal grand jury is now active and has subpoenaed Maricopa Countys election records, including from the 2024 cycle, to probe longstanding issues in State 48, she wrote on X.
So many of us have raised the alarm for years. The news of this subpoena gives me great hope that something will finally be done, Lake added. For conservatives who have argued that powerful counties and left-leaning bureaucracies have operated with impunity, the expanding federal probepaired with Februarys FBI action at the Fulton County Elections Department warehouse in Georgia, another county where Trump narrowly lost in 2020 but prevailed in both 2016 and 2024signals that long-dismissed concerns about election integrity may finally be getting the serious legal examination they deserve.
